In France, the data show a relative lull on the cyberattack front, but the threat remains very real and continues to target businesses of all sizes, including SMEs and large infrastructures.   <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Against this backdrop, the <strong>recovery of data following an attack<\/strong> has become a strategic issue for companies, who are sometimes helpless when faced with paralyzed systems. Databack has supported numerous organizations through a number of high-profile interventions and strategic partnerships, illustrating its role in the fight against cyberthreats.   <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>This article looks back at the main trends in cybercrime in 2024, and reviews Databack&#8217;s actions and achievements over the past year.  <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"250\" src=\"https:\/\/www.databack.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/rapport-cyber-2024.jpeg\" alt=\"cyber 2024 report\" class=\"wp-image-10507\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.databack.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/rapport-cyber-2024.jpeg 600w, https:\/\/www.databack.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/rapport-cyber-2024-300x125.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code><\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cybercrime in 2024: progress in the fight, but an ever-present threat  <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A relative lull for France in 2024  <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While 2024 was marked by persistently worrying ransomware activity worldwide, the situation in France appears to have experienced a relative lull. Cross-referenced data from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cybermalveillance.gouv.fr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">cybermalveillance.gouv.fr<\/a>, the Paris public prosecutor&#8217;s office and incidents reported in the press show a <strong>notable drop in reported attacks<\/strong> in France, reaching levels last seen in 2020. For example, cybermalveillance.gouv.fr recorded a gradual decline in ransomware support requests over several months of the year.    <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, this downward trend needs to be qualified. Experts estimate that <strong>only 10% of cyber-attacks<\/strong> are actually known to the public, due to a low complaint rate and under-reporting of incidents. This lack of transparency, particularly when ransoms are paid, limits the ability of law enforcement agencies to conduct investigations and take legal action.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code><\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A more effective global fight against ransomware  <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the same time, 2024 saw major advances in the international fight against ransomware. Law enforcement agencies stepped up their actions, with several <strong>large-scale operations<\/strong> aimed at disrupting the activities of cybercriminals. Highlights include    <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Operation Cronos<\/strong>: Conducted in February 2024, this operation struck a major blow to the LockBit 3.0 franchise, sustainably affecting the ransomware ecosystem throughout the year.  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Actions against Evil Corp and Ryuk<\/strong>: several key members of these groups have been identified and arrested thanks to the coordinated efforts of various international agencies.  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These actions show that the combined efforts of cybersecurity agencies and law enforcement agencies are bearing fruit. However, cybercriminals continue to adapt and find ways to circumvent security measures.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code><\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Answers and solutions in 2024  <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2024, organizations redoubled their efforts to deal with the growing threat of ransomware. While <strong>advanced detection tools<\/strong> and <strong>prevention strategies<\/strong> have reduced some of the impact, data recovery has emerged as a central challenge in limiting the damage after an attack.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To minimize losses and ensure rapid business recovery, it has become essential to put <strong>in place effective response plans<\/strong> and <strong>appropriate backup<\/strong> systems.
