What to do if you lose data on your hard disk
The first thing to do in the event of data loss is to physically switch off the equipment and not to power it up again. In the event of a read head failure, for example, reconnecting the drive may cause the platters to land, making data recovery impossible.
Under no circumstances should the hard disk be opened, as this could contaminate the surfaces. Hard disks must be opened in a clean room by qualified technicians equipped for this type of operation.
After isolating the hardware, you can then contact our laboratory, where a technician will work with you to determine the type of hard drive failure and explain the procedure for shipping your hard drive.
On receipt of your disk at the laboratory, we will proceed with the analysis. We can then give you a guaranteed result on the feasibility of recovery, and provide you with a list of recoverable files.
